How are you all doing? (I think there's about three or four...) I heard about some mondo-huge storm thing down there and it's all over the news,so I thought I"d see what's really going down in the land down under?
Hahah. That made me feel like a newscaster.

Cyclone Larry, I think it is. I'm fine, no cyclone will ever hit here. It's our Queenslander members that I'm worried about. Winnnnnnge~r! Are you alive?! ;.;
Tee hee, I was going to start a thread- it's good to see news about us reaches other countries.

Well, didn't affect us down in the lower regions apart from a buncha rain (yes, gorramit yes!) but the upper places got hit a fair bit. As far as I know there's no deaths, a couple of injuries and a lot of damage - but nothing really dreadful.
We made the news? Tres awesomeage.

Yay, rain! ^__^ I'm glad you're alright, I thought you were just out of the area it hit. Apparently on the news yesterday they said tourists were refusing to evacuate for a while because the skies were clear and they didn't believe the cyclone was coming ._.;; I guess they moved in the end.

I live in Queensland, but not in the area the cyclone hit. My grandparents live around there and they're all right. No power and a few trees and parts of a garden shed in their yard! I feel sorry for the people in Innisfail. That seems to be where the worst damage is.

That's good. I think it mostly made the news because everyone around ehre was comparing it to Hurricane Katrina. ._.;; I'm glad everyones still okay. I figured you were,since everyone was still posting...O.o;

I think they said that Larry was the worst cyclone we've had in Queensland for 30 years or something like that. It was a category 5 when it hit but it was fast-moving so it didn't do as much damage as it might have done if it had been slower. And I think people were quite well-prepared. There were a few people injured, but no one got killed.

That's good. ^-^ About people not dying. Yeah, I'm in Florida. On the panhandle. Not that fun during hurricanes. We get damage and refugees. Especially in my town.

We got the majority of Katrina refugees. That might be because we were one of the few (if not the only) cities that sent aid. Plus, most of the refugees were what my mom calls "the dregs of society" the people who didn't have the resources to get out beforehand. Not surprisingly, our crime rate's gone up 25%. A lot of it is pre- New Orleans gang rivalries, though, so basically they're killing off themselves. >.>

Killing off themselves... Killing themselves off...
Had a bit of a dyslexic moment there.

There's another cylcone that's already formed, but it appear to just be hovering off the coast. And yeah, I'm in lower Queensland, so no problems here. Except that in rained on our softball match >.<
I heard on the radio a funny story...this kid was calling up and talking about his Dad, who had gone over to help with removing debris. And as he entered the town, there was a pub - roof gone, half the walls gone - and a man was still sitting in there serving drinks. XD Aussie spirit forever!

XD Other countries drink to enjoy drink but Aussies drink to get drunk. Not too surprised about the pub, that guy probably got great business that day ^_^
