Kala had the day off from work, and whenever she had a day off she always headed to the Botanical gardens. There were a couple of birds that liked to hang out at the fountain quite often, so Kala would usually feed them. She had bought a couple scones from a bakery to share with the birds this time.
Kala walked down one of the pathways leading to the fountain, her chipmunk daemon Noke was perched on her head just above her goggles.
As they approached the fountain they could hear shouting: "You don't even know who I am. What, did your dad just point at me and say, 'he owes me money, go fetch.' Well, I've got news for you. I don't owe anybody money, and furthermore I wouldn't give any to you if I did."
Seconds later they saw the scene, a boy and a girl, and two dog daemons bristling with anger. Noke climbed down Kala's face and into one of the pockets on her orange plaid shirt. Kala stared at the two wide-eyed not sure what to say.

Mystified by the snake's sudden disappearance, Jo had retreated a little way from the fountain to contemplate and to soothe Kinden's nerves ... mostly by telling him to shut up when he moaned about it being a ghast and that nothing good was going to come of this. Her attention was suddenly caught by one of the other teens. It was the boy with the Malamute dæmon. He was talking to a girl with a fox-ish dæmon and looked pissed off.
"We're cursed," Kinden wailed. He was now perched on a stone wall enclosing a garden. Heaving a great shudder, his feathers ruffled slightly. "Doomed. It'll --"
"Kinden," Jo hissed, rounding on him fiercely, "shut up right now or so help me God I'll set you on fire."
Glaring haughtily, Kinden fell silent, realizing that Jo, too, was feeling unsettled, and aggression was how she reflected this.
"You don't even know who I am. What, did your dad just point at me and say, 'he owes me money, go fetch.' Well, I've got news for you. I don't owe anybody money, and furthermore I wouldn't give any to you if I did."
Torn between amused and annoyed, Jo pondered. She and the people grouped around this fountain had shared something, an unnerving experience. She felt strangely connected to them, and now some crazy teenager was trying to cause trouble.
She walked closer. Kinden, his red eyes flashing dangerously, watched her carefully. They weren't far enough away from each other to be bothered.
"Excuse me." Jo addressed the fox girl coolly, showing no trace of apprehension. "Either you must be crazy or remarkably stupid. You're not going to get any money with that pathetic lie, which he's made painfully clear. So you can keep trying to get money off 'im, or ..."
She heard the rush of wingbeats behind her, and raised her hand just in time to catch Kinden, his talons locking around her wrist. Over the years since he'd settled, she'd grown accustomed to his weight and held him firmly. Kinden folded his wings comfortably, eyeing the girl coldly as Jo finished her thought.
"Or you'll have us to reckon with."

Rebecca stepped backwards a pace, glaring at the two. She pulled out an old scratched up piece of paper with markings on it which read:
'Find the boy named Michael with the canine daemon at the Botanical gardens. When I come back home, I expect to see the ten pounds he owes me in your hands or on my desk.
Signed, Danien Sarule'
"There! Proof," She looked at the boy and girl defiantly, her unsettled swift fox daemon changing into a large leopard, growling fiercely. "I'm not lookin' for a fight, ma'am. I'm just trying to get what small amount is due, so I may take my leave." Rebecca stood straighter, and looked directly at the bird daemon's eyes, jutting her chin outwards slightly.

Khari growled at the girl's daemon again, a bit uncertainly. Michael however, was not so easily convinced. Besides the complete absurdity of the situation, he was getting the feeling from earlier, one of his "hunches". He stepped forward, snatched the paper from Rebecca's hands and looked at it closely. He was slightly tempted to just hand over the money regardless of owing it or not, when a thought occured to him. He looked up at the girl.
"How did you know my name was Michael? There's at least three other guys with canine daemons in this spot alone. And this note doesn't describe me any."

((OOC: I missed so much...I won't even try to make it up. ><)) "How did you know my name was Michael? There's at least three other guys with canine daemons in this spot alone. And this note doesn't describe me any."
Nicholas nodded. "Yeah. I've got a canine daemon, too," he said as he gestured to Zaltharia at his side. "I don't know what's going on but it seems a bit odd. Who exactly are you? And why would you wear a cloak in the middle of the day? It's quite warm out..." He let his sentence hang and stared at the girl cooly. Zaltharia gave a small growl at the snow-leopard daemon. Whenever she became fierce, she always used a less cliched form. "Poor guys...got no imagination. If I wasn't settled..." "You'd turn into chimera. I know," Nicholas finished.

'D**n!' she thought hurriedly. She was skilled in lying and acting, but some of the tiny details in her schemes seemed to always evade her active thoughts.
"I heard someone speak your name directed towards you, and figured it out myself," Rebecca snorted, crossing her arms again. She then looked at Nicholas, to his daemon, then back to him. "Yes, but your name isn't Michael, is it?"
Sequilaer snarled at Zaltharia agitatedly, his tail whipping the air, to and fro. "Claws make due," he unsheathed his claws, looking pointedly at the canine daemon.

"How convienient," Michael remarked dryly. "Well I must say, you and your daemon aren't acting very business-like."
Khari was regarding the currently formed leopard daemon with contempt, ready to leap at him if he made a move towards any of the other daemons.
Mick thought for a moment, then made his decision. "Ok, if your father wants the money so badly, he can get it himself or you can take me to him."

((Mie, when their words are in italics, that means they're mind-talking. Just so ya know.))
Zaltharia inwardly grinned. "Their plan's failing, eh?" She winked at the snow-leopard while her inward grin manifested on her yellow muzzle. Nicholas blinked. Such hostility Zaltharia directed towards them. "That may be true but for all you know, I could go by Michael around my friends. It's a common name, correct? And we still haven't heard your name, Miss."

"What do you expect? I'm only his daughter, not his assistant," Rebecca snapped back in a quick reply.
Sequilaer wouldn't attack the other daemons unless they made an effort against himself, but he kept up the growl.
"But he's away! He always goes on vacations and such, and makes me do his stuff for him!" she protested worriedly, apparently of the wrath of her father.
((Oh, okay. Sorry. XDD -feels stupid-))

Alli was suddenly very annoyed. Well, more very annoyed.
She walked directly in front of the girl, in an 'in your face' sort of way, before saying in a sweet voice, "Uh, excuse me, miss second-class liar." Her voice got more harsh. "Firstly, I was here. I was speaking. I'm not done with them. I would appreciate it if you stepped back now and let me get my answers. Secondly, if you're not blind, you can see that this person here," she indicated the one who had collapsed, "is not well. And lastly," She said with venom in her voice, "He said he doesn't owe you anything. So I suggest you back off. We've had a bad enough day as it is, and we've been itching to take it out on someone. So I suggest you leave. Now."
She had finished before realizing that Arin had tensed and was snarling, sharp teeth evident, at the girl's fox dæmon.

Rebecca simply stepped to the side, away from the girl's face. "So sorry for interrupting you. Please, do go on. I can talk with Michael privately, a little ways away from here, if you'd like." she replied in the same honey-coated voice in return.
"There's too many," Sequilaer thought to Rebecca, his azure eyes darting from one aggressive daemon to the other.
"I know, but we'll have to keep to it. Otherwise, we won't be able to last before tomorrow." she thought back. She wasn't dealing with the average dunce shoppers at the Market, it seemed.

Michael looked at the girl in front of him with part amusement, part irritation. "While I appreciate the help miss, I can handle this myself." he looked over her to his more current problem. "Like I said before. If he wants the money so bad, he can get it himself when he comes back. Other than that... You aren't gettin' any of my money."

Rebecca looked into Michael's eyes for a mere moment before deciding something. "Fine- I'll just have to travel with you until then."
"You really think he'll let you do that?" Sequilaer looked up at her, back into his swift fox shape.
She replied, "Yes.. hopefully. Otherwise.. I don't know.."
"Hope you others don't mind. Now.. about that body...?" Rebecca trailed off, waiting for an explanation.

Alli snapped at her.
"Alright, you've done enough talking for now. I'll tell you when you can speak again." She turned to the group. "Now, are you going to tell me why you disturbed me? This place is for peace and relaxation. And you all deprived me of that. The least you can do is tell me why."

Michael laughed. "Travel with us? I live just a few blocks away. And you are not coming home with me."
"Now, are you going to tell me why you disturbed me? This place is for peace and relaxation. And you all deprived me of that. The least you can do is tell me why."
"Do we tell her?" he asked his daemon.
"No. Not yet, at least. Do you really think she'd believe us?"
"Good point."
"Uh.. it was nothing. Me and uh..." He grabbed the kid with the lab daemon and tried to make up a name, when the boy's real one hit him. He didn't wonder about where it came from, but was grateful for the time being. "Me and Nicky here were just playin' around, and the heat must have made that girl over there sick." he shrugged. "It was really nothing, sorry to have disturbed you."
